Chart topping singer Pixie Lott has been added to the bill for a summer music festival.
Brit Award nominee Pixie will perform at the Access All Eirias concert – also featuring X Factor finalist Olly Murs – on July 28.
It will be in front of up to 15,000 fans in the first concert at the new outdoor music venue Eirias Stadium in Colwyn Bay.
So far about 5,500 tickets have been sold for the concert. Organisers Conwy County Borough Council and Orchard, Wales’ leading independent music promoter, are confident demand for tickets will be huge – especially with Pixie now signing up.
Orchard director Pablo Janczur said: “We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for Access All Eirias in North Wales when we launched at this great new venue last week, and now with the addition of another very popular artist we are confident of getting a capacity crowd of 15,000 to the event in the height of the summer.”
Iwan Davies, chief executive of Conwy County Borough Council, said: “This is great opportunity for the people of North Wales to see their favourite music stars at a local venue.”
He said it could be a sign of things to come, adding: “We’re really optimistic that, if this event is well supported, there can be similar concerts in the future – which will be great for fans and for local businesses.”
Born Victoria Louise Lott, Pixie, 21, is an English singer-songwriter, dancer and actress.
At the age of 15 the Londoner was signed to the Island Def Jam Music Group by L.A. Reid, and is now signed to the subsidiary Mercury Records in the UK, and Interscope in the US.
Her debut single “Mama Do (uh oh, uh oh)” was released in 2009, going straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart. “Boys And Girls” hit the top of the UK Singles Chart the same year followed by her debut album, Turn It Up, released in September 2009 which spawned singles “Cry Me Out”, “Gravity” and “Turn It Up” which all charted inside the UK top 20.
Lott has also recorded covers of many songs, including “Poker Face”, “Use Somebody” and “Apologise”.
She has also featured in a charity single by War Child UK, “I Got Soul”, along with the likes of Chipmunk and N-Dubz.
She will support Olly whose appearance was announced recently.
The event is supported by Conwy County Borough Council, Bay of Colwyn Town Council, Principality Building Society, Heart FM, the Daily Post and North Wales Weekly News.

Pixie Lott has congratulated The Wanted on becoming the highest charting UK boy band in US history.
The ‘Kiss The Stars’ singer sent the ‘Warzone’ singers a message of congratulations after their first US single ‘Glad You Came’ reached number five on the US Billboard Top 100 this yesterday (29th February).
“A well deserved Congratulations to @thewantedmusic for all their amazing success in America woowoo go on boys flying the flag! xXx,” Pixie posted last night.
The Wanted have also received compliments for their US success from the likes of Gary Barlow, Cover Drive, Taio Cruz and Dappy after the track reached number one on the iTunes chart in Canada as well as number one on the US iTunes pop chart this week.
The ‘Lighting’ singers are currently taking their ‘The Code’ tour to arenas across the UK and are due to perform tonight at the LG Arena in Birmingham.
Pixie Lott recently told Capital FM that she is expecting to go on tour again later this year and is hoping to make appearances at several summer UK festivals .
But although she is deliriously happy with her model boyfriend Oliver Cheshire who she has been with for 18 months, she has no plans to take things further.
However, the pop star hasn’t ruled out that he might be ‘The One’, even though they are both quite young.
Pixie, who just turned 21, was speaking to Look magazine to accompany a photo shoot when the chat turned to her relationship with Oliver.
She gushed about her handsome beau, who is taking her to Venice for her 21st birthday, and said it was a very thoughtful gift.
She said: ‘I’ve always said I want to go there because I love Italy, so I can’t wait. He wrapped up a bottle of wine from Venice, a guidebook and made a little gondola out of penne pasta with pasta figures of him and me on it. It must have taken him ages. It was so cute! He’s quite thoughtful and creative.’
But she said that he has no plans to propose to her on a gondola and when asked if he was The One, she said: ‘I don’t know, we’re so young. We’ve been together for a year and a half, which isn’t that long in the grand scheme of things, but it is for me. It’s the longest I’ve ever been with someone.
She said: ‘It’s too soon to say. We live ridiculously close, so it would be pointless. We’d lose the magic!’
She also said she has no plans to move in with him even though she just bought her first property, a ‘little flat in east London’.
Pixie, who recently chopped off her wavy locks for a shorter, sassier style, turned the milestone age of 21 on January 12 and celebrated with a huge party with her friends and family – and JLS.
She said: ‘I always wanted to have a big 21st. All my family and friends were there, JLS came down and my dad did the best speech ever, which I wasn’t expecting. I got a bit emotional.’
And she joked: ‘At least when I go to America now I can get into the bars. I don’t have to sneak in anymore!’
With a string of hit singles and two albums under her belt already, she is already established as one of the UK rising pop stars. But she said she won’t let fame go to her head and make her do anything stupid.
She said: ‘I’m not going to pretend I’m some crazy reckless person. I’m just a normal 21-year-old, who likes to go out and have fun.
‘People say it’s easy to get into drugs in this industry, but I don’t think that’s the case. Every kid sees it growing up, but I think if I was going to do it, I would have by now. All my friends are the same as me.’
The full interview with Pixie can be in this week’s Look magazine, out now.
The Kids’ Choice Awards 2012 nominees are here. Pixie is nominated in two categories: Favourite UK Female Artist and Favourite UK Actress (with Fred: The Movie). The voting is open, so make sure to vote a lot!
Unfortunately, Pixie walked away empty-handed from BRIT Awards. She lost her award to One Direction. I’ve begun adding pictures of Pixie on the red carpet at the ceremony.
