Pixie Lott may call her boyfriend Oliver Cheshire her ‘first true love’ but she admits she is in no rush to tie the knot with the M&S model.
The 22-year-old believes she is still far too young to think about walking down the aisle despite her beau making no secret of his desire to marry her.
‘I still think we’re really young,’ she told Guilty Pleasures in an exclusive chat at the Ten Green Bottles by Gordon’s & Temperley Event in London on Wednesday.
‘We’ve been together three years now. He’s my first true love, he’s my first serious boyfriend, but I’m only 22 so I do still think that’s too young.’
The Love You To Death singer has been busy in the studio working on her new album for the last few years which she admits has given her time to grow her relationship.
‘I’ve been in London, New York and Miami but I’ve been in London a lot so I’ve been at home every night so I’ve got to see him loads,’ she gushed about her chiselled 25-year-old boyfriend.
Lott admits it’s hard to keep a relationship going when she’s on tour but says her man is worth making the effort for.
She said: ‘When you start the promo stuff, when you’re doing different things you know, you have different wake-up times you’re in different countries, that’s when it’s harder but there’s always Skype.
‘Whenever I was away for a long time, like I was in New York for a couple of months making the album, we would Skype all the time and when I went to Miami he came out with me.
‘You make it work and I always think if you like someone you make the time.’
The Kent-raised singer is gearing up for her musical comeback after finishing work on her third album, due for release early next year, and says she has been lucky to have control over her career.
She told us: ‘I’ve never felt pressured (to do anything I didn’t want to do). As you get older you learn more and mature so you have more of a sense of what you want to do. If I didn’t want to do anything I’d definitely say no, I’d 100% put my foot down if I wasn’t comfortable.’
